Overcoming Scaling eczematous dermatitis with Care and Guidance

On the 19th of January 2023, a woman, 70 years of age, walked through the doors of our center for a follow-up visit. Her story began a couple of months earlier, on the 30th of November 2022, when she first sought medical assistance due to distressing symptoms.

It all started with a persistent itch and redness that plagued both of the patient’s legs, specifically below the knee. Coupled with severe knee pain and frequent burping, these symptoms were cause for concern. Furthermore, the patient had a complex medical history, including diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and a known allergy to dust. A comprehensive physical examination, conducted by our dedicated paramedics, revealed an increase in blood pressure, reaching levels of 186/90 mmHg.

To address the patient’s concerns, she was swiftly connected with our experienced General Physician, who carefully assessed her condition. After a thorough evaluation, a provisional diagnosis was made, revealing the presence of osteoarthritis, primary hypertension, and gastritis. The doctor prescribed medication to alleviate the joint pain and promptly referred her to a dermatologist for the persistent skin condition.

In addition to the prescribed medications, the General Physician provided the patient with invaluable lifestyle recommendations to enhance her well-being. These suggestions included incorporating a high-fiber diet, avoiding spicy foods, and adding curd and buttermilk to her meals. Staying hydrated with plenty of water, taking adequate rest, consuming small frequent meals, and steering clear of outside and oily foods were also advised. Moreover, the doctor emphasized the importance of a calcium-rich diet, while suggesting the application of hot packs twice daily and avoiding excessive forward bending.

On the same day, the patient met with the dermatologist, who conducted a thorough assessment of her skin condition. A provisional diagnosis of Scaling Eczematous Dermatitis was made, shedding light on the underlying cause of the persistent itch and redness. The dermatologist prescribed Tab.Levocetirizine 5 mg once daily for 15 days and recommended the application of Momate F cream twice daily to the affected area for the same duration. Furthermore, the patient received guidance on maintaining proper personal hygiene, moisturizing the skin, and resisting the urge to scratch, ensuring a more effective healing process. Before leaving, the patient was reassured and advised to return for a review after 15 days.

On the 12th of December, the patient returned for her scheduled review visit. This time, she met with the General Physician, who assessed her progress and encouraged her to continue the prescribed medications for one more week.

Fast forward to the 4th of January 2023, when the patient arrived for another evaluation. The General Physician, after a comprehensive assessment, noted an advancement in the skin condition. Acknowledging this progress, the doctor advised her to continue the medications for an additional five days and scheduled a follow-up review.

Returning on the 19th of January 2023, the patient came for a review consultation regarding her hypertension. During this visit, it was evident that the symptoms of her skin condition had significantly improved. She expressed her appreciation for the exceptional guidance and treatment she had received from Apollo Telehealth.
