    Major Types of Cancer

    Breast Cancer

    Breast cancer primarily affects the breast tissue, and it is the most common cancer among women globally.

    Symptoms:

    Lump or thickening in the breast or underarm area, changes in breast size or shape, nipple discharge or inversion, skin dimpling or puckering, and redness or scaling of the breast skin.

    Lung Cancer

    Lung cancer develops in the lungs and is often linked to tobacco smoking. 

     

    Symptoms:

     

    Persistent coughing, chest pain, shortness of breath, hoarseness, frequent respiratory infections, coughing up blood.

     

    Cervical Cancer

    It is usually caused by persistent infection with high-risk types of the human papillomavirus (HPV).

     

    Symptoms:

     

    Pelvic pain or discomfort; pain during intercourse; unusual vaginal discharge; and changes in menstrual patterns.

     

    Throat cancer

    Abnormal growth of cells in the tissues of the throat, including the voice box (larynx), tonsils, oropharynx, or other areas.

     

    Symptoms: 

     

    Persistent sore throat, difficulty swallowing, voice changes, and swollen lymph nodes in the neck.

    Oral cancer

    Develops in the tissues of the mouth or throat, including the lips, tongue, cheeks, floor of the mouth, and hard or soft palate.

    Symptoms:

    Red or white patches in the mouth, unexplained bleeding, difficulty or pain while chewing or swallowing, a persistent sore throat, a lump or thickening in the mouth or neck.

    Here are a few simple lifestyle tips that can make a difference:
    • Not using tobacco
    • Maintaining a healthy body weight
    • Eating a healthy diet, including fruit and vegetables
    • Doing physical activity regularly
    • Avoiding or reducing consumption of alcohol
    • Getting vaccinated against HPV and hepatitis B
    • Avoiding ultraviolet radiation exposure

    • Educate yourself and learn everything you can from a reliable source.
    • Attending doctor’s appointments and keeping track of medication changes could be helpful.

    • Providing emotional support is important, but avoid talking about it too often.
    • Help them with household chores like cleaning, cooking, and shopping to enhance their quality of life.
